11 Feb 2003 -- Below is a free translation made by a Fayenatic of the 2046 news yesterday in UDN magazine.
---
As WKW has said before, the film's theme is love. Love is actually 'past', 'present' and 'future', also know as 'yesterday', 'today' and 'tommorow'. The theme is questioning who or how to love. It is also about how people that tangled by love, they can't let go of their past, so they let their love filled imagination project a future. The past is set in 1964, a continuation of 'In the Mood for Love' . Tony Leung is torn between Maggie Cheung and Zhang Zi Yi. The present is set in 2003 in a foreign's country's circus, where Faye Wong and Takuya Kimura meet and both wonder who they love. Then the future is set in 2046 where all the characters meet again; they all wonder how in an age of technology and advancment, the capabilities of love. Every actor/actress has three looks.
Not sure if I translate everything correctly... since WKW stuff is complicated stuff, but that's the gist of it.
