30 Oct 2003 -- Faye will be covering a song from Swedish singer-songwriter Sophie Zelmani on her new cd, called Going Home. Going Home is a very slow song. It's kind of melancholy and it's about the feeling of returning home, perhaps getting away from something in life. The lyrics are pretty touching. The imagery of this song is like you're on a journey home. There will be a cantonese version of this song on the cd too. If you want to listen to it you can download a mp3 here (3,6 MB).

Going home lyrichs:
Not very often have we met
But the music's been too bad
Can only sense happiness
if the music is sad

So, I'm going home
I must hurry home
Where a life goes on

We're too old to make a mess
Dreams will keep me young
Old enough to stress
Only mirrors tell the time

So, I'm going home
I must hurry home
So will my life go on

Yes, I'm going home
Going home alone
And your life goes on

13 Oct 2003 -- Here is the second song translation from Elle Magazine, thanks again to Yvonne Lai for the translation.

Windy, fiery, intensely
Our love is like a battle
We shed no blood, yet have already sacrificed
Concealing a deadened heartbeat, burying a life of glory

Let love go all the way, greatness is cruelty reincarnated
Let love go all the way, the smell of blood being neither right or wrong
Let love go all the way, gentleness remaining, loneliness eternal

13 Oct 2003 -- And this is the rest of the articles in Elle Magazine. Did I mentioned that Yvonne Lai did all translations? Thanks for your great work! This is what she writes:

Dormant for two years, and about to release her latest Mandarin album, Faye once again accepts Elle’s exclusive interview before any notices(like promo n news n stuff?) regarding her new CD begin…Besides talking about how she’s been doing, her music and lifestyle, she also exposes some new song lyrics, which descriptively tell of her attitude towards love.

Apparently the author of this article has already heard at least the first song whose lyrics appear in the article, 'cause she describes Faye's singing to be as always before, unique and mesmerising. She goes to on elaborate: it's subtle yet rich, clear and poignant, transparent and suspensful...makes the listener get very emotional as it lightly floats amidst the air, channelling into the heart of the listener...(wow..)

OK, and then I guess this lady takes a trip to Faye's production house one September day to interview Faye...and when she sees her, she describes her as having no makeup, her hair as being long, straight n black with bangs cut unevenly (you know how she has her bangs now)...(ok i aint good at describing a person's attire like Sianz so pls overlook) she wears a vest, a long blue skirt, and flip flops, emanating her own kinda style and air.

She asks, "How have you been these three years?" like an old friend who hasn't seen her in a long time. Faye tilts her head and thinks for a bit, as if it's a complicated question, and answers, "Hmm, there's good and there's bad! I think this goes for everyone, you won't always be at a low point, and things can't always be good." Faye says that these past 3 years have been rather carefree for her, until the beginning of this year which brought an increase in workload. She says that she's in a pretty peaceful state of mind these days.

HER MUSIC

Although she hasn't released an album for 2 years, she and producer Zhang Yadong actually have been keeping themselves busy. She says that it's actually quite good to have so much time to produce an album. Zhang Yadong was subject to a lot of pressure, because he didn't want to make this new album just another "Fables," and even though many people said it was really good or whatever, it still wasn't very marketable...so there's always been a conflict in his mind, and that they've been debating over this issue all along. "But," Faye says, "it's useless to go on about it for half a day! The end product actually had little to do with what we were debating about. It still went according to our feelings, and it was still impossible to go against our own likings just to appease everyone. We both aren't this type of people!" (yayy we all know you aren't this type of person either Faye..=)

As for this kinda pressure, does Faye feel the same as Zhang? Faye goes, "Hm, actually I think my kinda pressure is quite different from his...Certainly I'd wish for my album to sell well, for the music I make to be popular among everyone. However, I'm very sure of my own musical direction. Perhaps what I've always liked isn't very marketable...Actually, it's always been my likings and musical tastes that made all the decisions in my music, it's not that I purposely made it to be that way. So I think, as long as there's a set group of fans who like it, it's okay. I don't expect however many copies to be sold, how well sales will be; this to me isn't pressure. Each time's album to me represents my feelings at that particular time...I don't think about how it will be like a few years looking back.." She basically says she doesn't think about these things a lot, just as long as it's whatever she was going through, her feelings at that time, what she felt satisfied with, it's all good.

10 Oct 2003 -- The latest Elle Taiwan magazine featured some lyrics written by Faye that will be in her upcomming album. A part of it was translated by Yvonne Lai, here it is:

I gave you fireworks, the occassion to him
I gave you the movie ticket, the seat to him
I gave you the candlelight, the dinner to him
I requested the song for you, gave him the microphone

The sounds to you, pictures to him
I gave you the story, the ending to him
I gave you the crystal slipper, 12 o'clock to him
I gave [my] heart to you, body to him

[I'd] rather leave nothing behind, never having anymore worries (never looking back)
If I still have pain, let the wind blow it asunder
If I still have happiness
If I still have pain, let the wind blow it asunder
If I still have happiness, perhaps
